Resumen

The present study summarizes experimental results obtained under compression, monotonic bending, and cyclic bending loading conditions, which were carried out to understand the mechanical behaviour of cast Ti-6Al-7Nb. Particular attention was paid on the mechanical analysis of grid-shaped samples and open-cell Ti67 sponges as promising candidates for biomedical implants. Samples in heat-Treated and acid-pickled condition show an outstanding combination of homogeneous microstructure with an increase of the ductility and strength. Mechanical testing applying open-circuit potential (OCPmeasurements evidenced micro-delaminations of the bioactive calcium titanate (CaTiO3layer. These material losses were confirmed by SEM analysis after bending and cyclic bending tests.
