Abstract

The low aspect ratio spherical tokamak (ST) MEDUSACR (Madison EDUcation Small Aspect ratio tokamak) is currently being re-commissioned in Costa Rica. The spherical tokamak was donated to the Instituto Tecnológico de Costa Rica by University of Wisconsin-Madison, USA. In addition to training, the major objective of the device ST MEDUSA-CR is to address relevant physics for spherical and conventional tokamaks. This work provides information about the re-design of the vacuum system, the new gas injection system, and the power circuit current controller of the coils, with the intention of bringing it back into operation for the investigation of plasma physics.
